“Won’t you join us in the fight against Breast Cancer? Calling quilters of all skill levels! Bring a friend and together we'll support the fight against breast cancer.”

This is how the Quilt Pink Day web-site begins [www.quiltpink.com]. Forever In Stitches is one of the nationally participating shops.
The goal of this national Quilt Pink event is: Quilt Shops will take blocks created at the event, complete the quilt(s), and send the finished quilt(s) to American Patchwork & Quilting® magazine for an online auction in Spring 2007. Net proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Each shop conducts their own, individual Quilt Pink Day event with their own distinct set of rules, including their own quilt(s).
We chose a very easy block so that every quilter from the beginner to the advanced can participate. The time to complete the block is estimated to be less than 5 minutes. The block size is 6” and it takes 225 blocks to make the full size quilt. The quilt(s) will be long-armed with the special quilting design that we have made for this event.
This is how it will work:
The event date is: September 30th (9:00 a.m. -
5:30 p.m.)
Want to participate, but can't make it to the store on September 30th? Stop by the shop from September 1st through 30th and purchase a pre-cut block kit that a volunteer will sew for you on Sept 30th.
Purchase the pre-cut 6" quilt block kit for
50 cents. There is no limit to the number of blocks you purchase.
Make the block at the store or a volunteer sew
the block for you (see above).
Donate the block to our store's project.
Sign your name to the backing fabric for the
quilt.
Fill out your prize raffle entry form for $150
in prizes. The forms are located in each quilt block kit.
The drawing will be at 5:30 p.m., September 30☺[
This new Block Of the Month [BOM] is very different. We provide the pattern as well as the background solid fabric as part of the monthly fee, and you choose the main color [solid or print] fabric.

There are two major advantages:
1. You chose the color of the quilt that you want.
2. The main color is purchased "up-front" to insure that a bolt change doesn't change the shade over the course of the year.
This is how it will work:
There is no book to buy or BOM registration fee.
You start by buying 1¾ yards of the main color
fabric [solid or print] at our shop. This is enough for the 12 blocks.
The no-fee BOM registration will register what
color/print you are using and you will make your choice of which solid background
color you want. Background color choices include: White, Natural, Cream, Gray (OSU
Color), Black, Papaya (
Pick-up period is from the 1st to the
15th of each month starting October 1st.
Monthly Background & Pattern Fee is $1.00.
Maximum of 2 blocks per customer.
Out of period pick-up block fee $2.00.
Participant must pick up their own block(s) [no
exceptions] ☺
Our new fabrics are:
Winter Rose
by Moda
Boo Hollow
by Thimbleberries
December Day
by Thimbleberries☺
Starting September 1st the finishing fabric will be available for purchase. If you want to finish your quilt in the coordinated fabric, then come while the supplies last☺

The quilt pictures the varsity football and cheerleading teams along with all of the individual seniors from both teams. It will be shown at each home football game as well as in our shop.
This special quilt was designed by our own Karen Falk [also a BHS faculty member and a cheerleader mom]. It was pieced, embroidered and bound by Karen. The pirate long-arm design is by Forever In Stitches. The fabric, batting and custom long-arming was also donated by Forever In Stitches.
Tickets are $1 each, or 6 for $5. Tickets can be purchased at Forever In Stitches, the Pirates’ home football games, or from Karen at BHS. The drawing will be held at the last home game of the football season☺

A group of Blufftonites has begun the
process of forming the Bluffton Ohio Historical Society as a non-profit
The
Initially, quilts will be on loan to the Museum. The Society will have the exhibits appraised and insured. This will allow the display of quality, historically important quilts while not depriving the donating families of their heritage. Subsequent phases will allow for the determination of appropriate long-term facilities.
At this time the Society has received a pledge of $10,000 in matching funds. Obtaining a total of $20,000 will allow the Society to found, make capital improvements, and operate the Museum for the first year. If you are interested in assisting and / or supporting the Society and / or the Museum, contact Dick McGarrity at dickjayne1@aol.com or 419.369.4216, or go to www.fisllc.com/id294.html ☺
It’s that time of year again! – The Bluffton Fall Festival features four distinct venues that attract history buffs, arts and crafts devotees, fishing enthusiasts, quilters, kids, movie-goers, . . . . All four locations feature activities, entertainment, demonstrations, kids activities, and food. All but one have horse drawn wagon rides. All of these differ from site to site: The Village of Bluffton, Maple Crest, The Swiss Homestead, Suter Farm, and the Mennonite Memorial Home.
